Osun Crisis: IGP dismisses Osun PDP Chairman's Allegations

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has dismissed allegations by the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Hon. Sunday Bisi, as absurd and unworthy of a response.

Bisi had accused the IGP of deploying Special Forces to escort miscreants into local government councils in Osun State as part of an alleged plan to assassinate Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke. He claimed the deployment disregarded the governor’s directive to restore peace and order.

GALAXY TV reports that the IGP while responding to questions from journalists in Abuja, stated that he would not dignify such accusations with a reply, calling them baseless and illogical.

He stressed that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) would not allow the distortion of facts to go unchallenged but noted that statements lacking reasoning did not deserve a response saying he his too busy for careless talk and will not respond to such absurdity.

Addressing the recent violence in Osun State, the IGP explained that the Nigeria Police Force responded to a call for reinforcements from the Osun State Commissioner of Police. He assured that sufficient personnel had been deployed to maintain law and order and prevent further unrest in the state.

Egbetokun urged residents of Osun State to remain calm, go about their normal activities, and uphold the rule of law
